Alcohol-soluble functional vic-dioxime bearing alcoholhexylsulfanyl moieties: preparation, spectroscopy and electrochemistry

Abstract: A new alcohol soluble functionalized vic-dioxime, bis-[(1-hydroxyhexyl)-(8,9-hydroxyimino)-7,10-dithiahexacosane (LH 2 ), and its alcohol-soluble mono and dinuclear complexes (Ni II , Cu II , Co II , Mn II , Pd II and UO 2 II ) have been prepared from 6-mercapto-1-hexanol and (E,E)-dichloroglyoxime under high dilution basic conditions. Reactive polyalcohol moieties appended at the periphery of the oxime containing two different heteroatoms (S-, O-), serve as a weak exocyclic binding sites for Pd II and Ag I me… Show more

“…This information and the data obtained from the microanalyses show that the complex of Co(II) can be square-planar. 13,23,27,37,38 According to the above results, square-planar geometries for the Ni(II), Co(II), and Cu(II) complexes, and a tetrahedral geometry for the Zn(II) complex, are proposed. On the basis of the above analyses, the following structures (Figures 1-3) may be suggested for the complexes.…”

“…Consequently, we may conclude that both of these d 8 metal ions are coordinated with the dioximato donor sites in square planar geometry[14,26]. The carbon resonances of oxime groups are found at 150.The elemental analysis result shows that the polymer complexes have been obtained with 1:1 metal/ligand ratio.Best evidence of the polymer formation is the disappearance of the =N-OH signals in the ligands and the existence of intra-molecular D 2 O-exchangeable H-bridge (O-HÁÁÁO) protons, which were observed by a new signals at d = 15.53 ppm for [Ni(L 1 SL 1 )] n and d = 15.43 ppm for [Ni(L 2 SL 2…”

“…* and n! * transitions of -C¼N and chargetransfer arising from metal to ligand or ligand to metal [34,35]. The absorption spectrum of 4 has a band around 480 nm, possibly due to d-d transition from a distorted octahedral stereochemistry.…”
