“…Gold sequences are constructed by using a pair of specially selected m-sequences to form a new modified sequence which is denoted as a Gold sequence (Wornell 1995;Popovic 1999;). An all-optical pseudo random binary sequence (PRBS) generator has been reported which makes use of a terahertz optical asymmetric demultiplexer (TOAD) and semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA)-assisted gate to effectively combine fast switching time and has the benefits of reasonable noise figure (Zoiros et al 2011;Sokoloff et al 1993;Zhang et al 2003). More specifically, this realization would develop ultrahigh speed diagnostic and measurement equipment with comparative performance over their electronic counterparts.…”

“…For instance, Wagemans has proposed a scheme of PRBS generator based on double-loop flip-flop with a complex structure and a low rate at 10 kb/s [5]. Zoiros has proposed a PRBS generator by the TOAD-based D flip-flops [6], and Ma also has proposed a PRBS generation based on quantum-dot semiconductor optical amplifiers [7]. However, they were just realized by theoretical simulation without any experimental result and their structures are complex [5,6].…”

However, they were just realized by theoretical simulation without any experimental result and their structures are complex [5,6]. In this context, there is another method to obtain a high rate of PRBS, which is the ultraspeed all Optical repetition rate multiplication of PRBS.…”

“…An all-optical regenerative memory device using a single loop mirror and a SOA has been proposed, which is capable of storing a 4.4 k bit data packet for a period of one second (Johnson et al 2008). An alloptical pseudorandom binary sequence generator with TOAD-based D flip-flops has been described in (Zoiros et al 2011). In this work, LiNbO 3 based MZIs are used to implement the universal shift register (USR).…”
