Abstract:Metachromatic leukodystrophy (MLD) is a rare genetic disorder caused by pathogenic variants of the ARSA gene, leading to a deficiency of the arylsulfatase A enzyme (ARSA) and consecutive accumulation of galactosylceramide-3-0-sulfate in the nervous system.
