Alteration of Fruit Quality Attributes and Cell Wall-Degrading Enzymatic Activities in Cluster Tomatoes After Combination Treatment with 1-methylcyclopropene and Modified Atmosphere Packaging During Cold Storage

Si-Eun Byeon,
Gon Ho Park,
Jinhee Lee
et al.

Abstract: This study evaluates the combined effects of 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) and modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) on the quality of cluster-type tomato cultivars. Here, we analyze the physiological and biochemical alterations that affect fruit characteristics during cold storage, including knuckle detachment force, ethylene production rate, and cell wall-degrading enzymatic activity. The optimum concentration of 1-MCP fumigation treatment to regulate fruit ripening after harvest was 1 μL•L -1 . During storage … Show more

“…The temperatures of the injector, oven, and flame ionization detector were set to 200°C, 70°C, and 250°C, respectively. Helium (He) was used as the carrier gas at a flow rate of 30 mL min -1 for both GC analysis conditions (Byeon et al, 2022;Latt et al, 2023). Fruit firmness was measured using a Brookfield texture analyzer (CT3 4500, AMETEK Brookfield, Inc., Middleborough, MA, USA).…”

“…According to Kozioł et al (2017), the PG activity is positively correlated with stiffness in ripe pears, regardless of the PME activity. According to studies of the role of PME and PG during fruit growth and maturation, it was found that their involvement in general depends on the crop variety (Zhang et al, 2020;Zhang et al, 2021;Byeon et al, 2022).…”
