Alterations of microRNAs expression profiles in small extracellular vesicle after traumatic brain injury in mice

Abstract: Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is one of the leading causes of mortality and morbidity worldwide. Tools available for diagnosis and therapy are limited. Small extracellular vesicle (sEV) microRNAs (miRNAs) play an important role in TBI disease progression. This study aimed to investigate the alterations in sEV miRNAs expression in the mouse brain extracellular space after TBI. Twenty-four C57BL/6J mice were randomly divided into two groups (12/group). The TBI group was subjected to all surgical procedures and fl… Show more

“…Previous psychiatric disease-related studies have mainly focused on miR-335. It play a vital role in the development of depression, both in brain and serum (Bocchio-Chiavetto et al, 2013;Fan et al, 2022;Li et al, 2015;Smalheiser et al, 2012).Therefore, miR-335-3p, which also be present in brain-derived EVs (Tian et al, 2022), could be another significant miRNA involved in psychiatric disorders. At the same time, miR-335-3p also plays a crucial role in the skeletal system.…”
