Altered blood chemistry and hippocampal histomorphology in adult rats following prenatal exposure to physiologically-patterned, weak (50–500 nanoTesla range) magnetic fields

Abstract: The results suggest that a common factor in cellular adhesion or plasticity might be permanently altered by prenatal exposure to a narrow intensity of a series of physiologically-patterned magnetic fields.

“…Hyperglycaemia may be attributed to the release of the hyperglycaemic hormone (glucagon) and/or the inhibition of the hypoglycaemic hormone (insulin) as previously shown by Gorczynska (1989). Our findings are supported by the report of Chater et al (2006a,b), St. Pierre et al (2008) and Tsuji et al (1996).…”

“…In order to observe these effects, the operating landscape must influence a sufficiently large group of cells so as to alter the shape of the organism proper. Perinatal exposures to patterned EMFs induce changes in the morphology of rats (St-Pierre et al, 2007, 2008)—a potential indicator of EM pattern interference. It can also be said that EMFs are able to interfere with the regenerative capacities of the planarian worm (Murugan et al, 2013).…”

“…In addition, there were no statistical significant differences between the IF series and the corresponding controls for lymphoma development (Svedenstal and Holmberg 1993). Our previous experiments of 20 kHz with 6.25 mT and 30 mT and of other shaped fields MF exposure using animal fetuses exposed during pregnant period, did not induce any malformation, either (Kim et al 2004;Lee et al 2009;St-Pierre et al 2008).…”
