Previous studies in rodents have reported significant increases of 5-HT and its metabolite 5-HIAA in individuals affected by IUGR (Chanez et al, 1981;Jensen et al, 1996;Manjarréz et al, 1996Manjarréz et al, , 1988; however, a recent study in rabbits evidenced a lack of significant differences between control and IUGR individuals (Hernández-Andrade et al, 2015).
