We study the influence of the gravity field orientation on the microstructure of Al–Si forming alloy. Due to the difference between the diffusivity of aluminum and silicon, Kirkendall void formations are normally found at the back of rear-passivated solar cells instead of an eutectic layer. We show that the voids may partially be avoided by sintering the samples with the solid/liquid interface oriented opposite to the direction of the gravity field. A local back-surface-field is found underneath the voids using this approach. This phenomenon strongly applies to rear-passivated solar cells, which exhibited strong fill factor losses.

Abstract.A two-dimensional (2D) analytical model based on the Green's Function method is applied to an n + -p thin film polycrystalline solar cell that allows us to calculate the conversion efficiency. This model considers the effective Gaussian doping profile in the p region in order to improve cell efficiency. The dependence of mobility and lifetime on grain doping is also investigated. This model is implemented through a simulation program in order to optimize conversion efficiency while varying thickness and doping profile in the base region of the cell. Compared with n + -p standard structure, our proposed structure shows a 43% improvement in conversion efficiency for a polycrystalline solar cell. The BSF of mono-crystal silicon cell is studied in this paper. It simply states the principle and formation process of BSF, and studies the evenness of BSF. In the experiment, we analyze BSF formed by taking different sintering temperature, heating rate and setting different time, develop by chemical reagent and observe at high magnification scope, analyze and get the optimal parameters of forming even BSF and further improve conversion efficiency of silicon chips.
