Aluminum‐based thermal storage system with solar collector using nanofluid

Abstract: Metal and phase change material (PCM) is used for thermal storage system.Aluminum as a metal and erythritol as the PCM is a better option for the thermal storage. This thermal storage is charging with the help of solar energy through a solar collector. Parabolic trough solar collector is used to collect the solar energy. Evacuated tube was used to absorb solar radiation and soybean oil-based nanofluid containing Al 2 O 3 nanoparticles at volume concentration of 0.1% is filled in tube to transfer heat from abso… Show more

“…The Al 2 O 3 nanoparticles was supplied from Nano Research Lab (NRL), Jamshedpur, India with average particles size 30 to 50 nm and prepared by bottom‐up method 47‐49 . The volume concentration (∅) of nanoparticles in base fluid of 0.1% was used, which gives maximum heat transfer efficiency for the thermo‐syphon system 25,50‐53 . The soybean oil and Al 2 O 3 nanofluid was prepared with the help of ultra‐sonication 54,55 .…”

“…In the field of PCM-based energy storage system, significant number of studies has been already carried out for different thermal energy storage system applications. [20][21][22][23] The PCM-based study on PV cells for different orientations of PV modules focused on improved electrical conversion efficiency still needs significant number of researches to make it as commercial level applications. Although few authors 16,24,25 studied the effect of module tilt angle on the performance of PV-PCM systems, but it is limited for single PCM as well as comparative study is also missing.…”
