Abstract: O artigo apresenta uma análise das ideias pedagógicas do filósofo e educador brasileiro Álvaro Borges Vieira Pinto (1909-1987), a partir de suas obras. Argumenta que as ideias de Vieira Pinto sobre o conceito de educação, concepções ingênua e crítica de educação, alfabetização de adultos, relação pedagógica, teoria pedagógica e reforma universitária são ainda atuais e relevantes.
