“…The mean reduction in PD (0.73 ± 1.58 mm) and mean gain in CAL (0.77 ± 1.68 mm) at 2 months in the placebo group of the current study were approximately the same as reported in the early onset periodontitis group harboring Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans (PD reduction of 0.9 mm and CAL gain of 0.7 mm) after SRP at 6 weeks 29 . Similarly, mean reduction in PD in the placebo group (1.65 ± 1.35 mm) in our study was greater than the mean PD reduction (1 mm) obtained in AgP treated with SRP alone at 24 weeks by Pawlowski et al, 30 whereas gain in CAL in our study (1.42 ± 1.70 mm) was much greater than mean gain in CAL (≈0.4 mm) as reported by Pawlowski et al 30 Bone fill in the placebo group in the current study was 0.10 ± 0.06 mm at 6 months, which is similar to bone fill (0.12 ± 0.05 mm) obtained in the GAgP group treated with SRP at 6 months 31 . Although bone fill (0.5 mm) was reported in another study 30 treating AgP with SRP at 24 weeks, it was barely greater than the current study.…”
