Alzheimer’s disease and epilepsy: The top 100 cited papers

Abstract: BackgroundAlzheimer’s disease (AD) is one of the common neurodegenerative diseases, which often coexists with epilepsy. It is very significant to study the treatment options and the relationship between AD and epilepsy.AimsThe purpose of this study was to analyze the top 100 cited papers about AD and epilepsy using bibliometrics, and to describe the current situation and predict research hot spots.MethodsTop 100 papers were obtained from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC). The WoSCC was used to analyze… Show more

“…Previous bibliometric studies of AD have analyzed the relationship between the intestine and AD, epilepsy and AD, and brain energy metabolism disorder in AD ( Du et al, 2021 ; Trejo-Castro et al, 2022 ; Zhang et al, 2022 ). Our study aimed to collect articles related to mitochondrial dysfunction in AD and analyzed them quantitatively and qualitatively, which no one has done yet.…”

“…This analytical approach has been widely employed across various research disciplines such as computer science, statistics, social science, library science, and biomedicine [ 4 ]. In recent years, scholars in fields such as obstetrics and gynecology [ 5 ], orthopedics [ 6 ], neuroscience [ 7 ], and molecular biology [ 8 ] have undertaken relevant bibliometric studies. The frequency of citations is a crucial metric for evaluating the impact of academic papers in bibliometrics.…”
