AM-TEPA Impregnated Disordered Mesoporous Silica as CO2 Capture Adsorbent for Balanced Adsorption–Desorption Properties

Abstract: A disordered mesoporous silica was found to be a promising solid support for CO 2 capture. It was prepared with a process similar to that for MCM-41. X-ray diffraction characterization (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) confirmed its disordered structure. N 2 adsorption−desorption tests indicated that its average pore size is significantly larger than that of MCM-41. On this support was deposited acrylamide (AM)-modified tetraethylenepentamine (TEPA), resulting in an adsorbent suitable for CO 2 c… Show more

“…Colored band show the range. This work (d, colored), DBUOH/amorphous silica@298 K (e, s) [25], DBUOH/SBA-15@298 K (D) [25], CP/SBA-15@298 K (d, black) [26], AO/SBA-15@298 K (Ç, black) [26], Arg/PSS-PMMA@298K39 (h) [27], EmimGly/PMMA@313 K (N, black) [28], AM-TEPA/DMS@298 K (j, black) [29], PEI/clay@348 K (x) [30], TEPA/SiO 2 aerogel@348 K (+, ⁄) [31]. This unprecedented capacity of the hybrid sorbents (sevenfold increase compared with the bulk, and threefold compared with the support) is superior to many other widely explored supported amine-based systems [23][24][25][26][27][28][29][30][31], as shown in Fig.…”

“…This limitation was overcome by spreading a thin layer of IL on a solid support resulting in enhanced rates and reversible adsorption in several supported IL systems [56][57][58]. For the two ILs considered here, CO 2 absorption by bulk ET is characterized by purely physisorption while EZT3 exhibits both physical and chemical absorption [18].…”
