“…Spd could mitigate dehydration-induced oxidative damage by activating H 2 O 2 and calcium signaling to regulate antioxidant enzyme activities and genes associated with antioxidant functions . Similarly, urea functions as the nitrogen supply in relation to plant growth, nutrient availability, and adaptation to abiotic stress. Foliar urea acted a positive role in provoking nitric oxide signaling and glycinebetaine metabolism to alleviate the negative effects of dehydration stress in maize . Combined with previous studies, our findings suggest that the accumulation of PAs, glycolysis, and urea are involved in CTS-induced drought resistance as the defense signaling, a source of nitrogen, and regulators of antioxidant defense and proline metabolism in white clover.…”

“…Studies have shown that drought stress reduced uptake of plant nutrients ( Razi and Sen, 1996 , Christophe et al, 2011 , Sardans and Peñuelas, 2012 , Rouphael et al, 2012 , Heckathorn et al, 2014 ). soil nutrients ( Cramer et al, 2009 , Waraich et al, 2011 , Fierer and Schimel, 2002 ) and soil enzyme activities ( Sanaullah et al, 2011 ).…”

“…In this regard, other plant growth promoting bacteria microorganisms have been useful in ameliorating water stress effects in plants. While Razi and Sen (1996) used Klebsiella spp. to study these effects in rice, Timmusk and Wagner (1999) found that Paenibacillus polymyxa could increase the expression of Arabidopsis thaliana genes associated with plant defenses to both biotic and abiotic stress.…”
