“…This might be due to Si accumulation in plant parts which reduce its lodging and enhanced resistance against biotic and abiotic stress, ultimately resulted into higher biological yield. Similar results were also observed by Patil et al (2017) and Sarma et al (2017). There was non-significant difference observed with different doses of active silica in soil as well as foliar application on harvest index.…”

“…This might be the reason for increasing the grain and stover yield by foliar application of active silica. Similar results were also observed by Ahmad et al [26], Patil et al [27] and Sarma and Shankhdhar [28].Correlation analysis showed that total N (r =0.996**), P (r =0.999**) and K uptake (r =0.999**) were significantly positive correlated and increased with increasing biological yield, and protein content in grain (r =1.000**) increased with increasing N content, and also Si uptake increased with increasing Si content at 60 (r =0.995**), 75 DAS (r =0.999**) and harvest (r =1.000**).Jawahar and Vaiyapuri [21] also reported similar results.…”

“…It increased the photosynthetic rate (Detmann et al, 2012and Song et al, 2014), leaf area (Gong et al, 2003Pati et al, 2016;Sarma et al, 2017 andJan et al, 2018) and chlorophyll content (Ranganathan et al, 2006 andSong et al, 2014). Silicon also has a major role in increasing yield attributing characters like number of spikelets, filled spikelet percentage, test weight and total grain yield (Rani et al, 1997;Ahmad et al, 2013;Jawahar et al, 2015 andPatil et al, 2017) in rice.…”
