Two of Donald Trump administration’s most salient legacies are the high level of crime victimization and low popularity ratings among groups likely to be targeted by crime, such as females and race and ethnic minorities. To explore crime victimization and public opinion towards the president, the article tests whether gender and race determinants among crime victims were associated with trust in the president and job performance approval. Results indicated that females and female victims of crime were less likely to reward presidential performance and trust Trump. Blacks and Latinos were less likely to trust Trump and less likely to reward his job performance; however, there was no effect when moderating by whether they reported being victims of crime. Victims of crime in unsafe neighbourhoods were less likely to trust and reward presidential performance. More surprisingly, being a crime victim was a significant and positive predictor of trusting Trump and rewarding his job performance. The results tell us about the need to continue studying the public’s wishes for the authorities to respond to the problem of victimization, oftentimes rewarding populist approaches to punitive justice, incarceration and overall tougher criminal policies.

Scholars argue that Trump�s character and experience influence American foreign policy during a crisis such as the COVID-19 pandemic. His controversial policy can be seen from his reopening of America agenda at a time when the situation was not conducive yet, the rejection to join COVAX, confrontational behavior toward WHO and China, the reduction of international engagement with the European Union to address COVID-19. This article examines how Trump�s leadership style influenced American foreign policy during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. It mainly uses psychobiography and content analysis as complementary methodologies. This article found that Trump is a predominant leader with a more goal-driven style. He is a leader who likes to challenge constraints, is closed to information, and is achievement-motivated, with an expansionist type. His personalities of high level of dominance, high self-confidence, emotional, ambitious and aggressiveness shaped his foreign policy to be inconsistent and unpredictable during the pandemic. Niniejsze badanie ma na celu zbadanie nastrojów liberalnego kosmopolityzmu w Stanach Zjednoczonych w ostatnich dziesięcioleciach i wypełnienie luk w literaturze na trzy sposoby. Po pierwsze, proponujemy nową wielowymiarową miarę kosmopolityzmu w oparciu o dane z World Values Surveys; po drugie, staramy się sprawdzić, czy istnieje tendencja do bycia bardziej lub mniej kosmopolitycznym w USA w latach 1982‒2017; i po trzecie, badamy, czy istnieją związane z wiekiem różnice w postawach publicznych. Wyniki potwierdzają nasze hipotezy: (1) Ogólne poparcie dla kosmopolityzmu rośnie – nawet w nowym stuleciu w zmienionej atmosferze politycznej. (2) Związane z wiekiem różnice w poparciu dla kosmopolityzmu pogłębiły się w ciągu ostatnich czterech dekad.
