T he 52nd annual meeting of the American Pancreatic Association (APA) was held in person and virtually at the Eden Roc Miami Beach Hotel, Florida, on November 3-6, 2021. The meeting was held under the leadership of President Joe Hines, with the theme "Together Again." Dr Hines noted that "the past 18 months have certainly been like no other. The APA has remained resilient and vibrant throughout the challenges of the pandemic. This success has come from the dedication of our membership as well as the steadfast leadership of the secretary-treasurer, Dr Ashok Saluja." This year's program included a satellite symposium on necrotizing pancreatitis, the Hirshberg Symposium on genomics in pancreatic cancer, the PanCAN symposium, and more than 300 abstracts. 1 The program is on the APA website (APA Annual Meeting, https://www.american-pancreatic-association.org/meeting/?v= 1d20b5ff1ee9). Dr Miklos Sahin-Tóth gave the Frank Brooks lectureship on "Hereditary Pancreatitis: 25 years of an evolving paradigm." The Paul Webster lecture was delivered by Dr Vijay P. Singh on "What we learned from pancreatitis." Markus M. Lerch, MD, FRCP, was the recipient of the Vay Liang and Frisca Go award for Lifetime Achievement. The APA Distinguished Service awardees were Ms Jane M. Holt and Ms Patter Birsic, cofounders of the National Pancreas Foundation (NPF).Other highlights of the meeting include the first presentation of the APA promising pancreatologist award to Ms Cornelia Li from Glenda Dawson High School, Pearland, Texas, and the over 50 young investigator travel awardees. They are listed in the 2021 APA annual meeting program. Dr Omaida C. Velazquez was the keynote speaker for the special Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Pancreas Symposium.
