Amodiaquine drug as a corrosion inhibitor for mild steel in 0.1M HCl solution

Abstract: The inhibition effect of an environmentally friendly and cost-effective drug, amodiaquine, on the corrosion of mild steel in an acidic medium was studied by the weight loss method at room temperature. The study revealed that the test drug has an inhibitory action on the corrosion of mild steel in the investigated medium. The inhibition efficiency was found to increase with increasing inhibitor concentration. Plots of the concentration of metal versus time indicate first-order kinetics for the inhibition proces… Show more

“…In our study, values of n with and without amides range from 0.836 to 0.798. The deviation from unity (ideal capacitive behavior) is due to the presence of surface inhomogeneity and surface roughness [53]. Using Eq.…”

“…After 4 h of testing, all systems showed R p values greater than the reference. The R p values increased as the inhibition approached the maximum when the metal apparently stopped corroding . The increase of R p values with the increase of the extract concentration is due to the adsorption of the organic molecule on the metal surface .…”

“…Therefore, polymeric systems tested at 25°C and 80°C offer good protection to cracked 410SS. The E corr and I corr were obtained by Tafel extrapolation method, the anodic and cathodic Tafel slopes (bA and bC) are obtained from the ACM software and the corrosion PE was calculated according to equation (1) (Akpan and Offiong, 2015). The values of these parameters are presented in Table 2: …”
