Amphiphilic PEG‐b‐PMCL‐b‐PDMAEMA Triblock Copolymers: From Synthesis to Physico‐Chemistry of Self‐Assembled Structures

Abstract: A synthetic route toward a new family of amphiphilic mPEG‐b‐PMCL‐b‐PDMAEMA triblock copolymers is reported. Chemical structures and compositions are confirmed by 1H NMR and SEC. Polydispersity indices are typically <1.4, indicating good control of the reactions. The physicochemical parameters associated with mPEG‐b‐PMCL‐b‐PDMAEMA self‐assembled structures are investigated. Nanoparticles are prepared via a co‐solvent method, and parameters such as nanoparticle $\overline {M} _{{\rm w}} $, Nagg, A2, and Rh are c… Show more

“…Lipid membranes are omnipresent in nature and serve as a role model in the design of synthetic analogues with improved stability and functionality. [30] To create polymersomes/membranes in our laboratories, we used amphiphilic block-copolymers, including (PMOXA-b-PDMS-b-PMOXA), [31] (PEG-b-PMCL), [32] (PEG-b-PMCL-b-PDMAEMA) [33] and (PB-b-PEG). [34] Initially we struggled to extend the applicable self-assembling materials to include amphiphilic peptides.…”

“…Literature values for each constituent homopolymer were used for the RI contributions; 0.135, 0.12 and 0.03 mL g À1 for PEO, PMCL and PFPO respectively. [113][114][115] The insolubility of PFPO in THF prohibits determination of a dn/dc value for this polymer in this solvent. However, the low dn/dc value estimate (since all perfluoroethers have low dn/dc values in a range of solvents) and the small fraction of PFPO within the m-O(CF) n terpolymers (#0.26) means that the calculated dn/dc values/M n by MALS for the terpolymers is insignificantly affected by the value for PFPO.…”
