“…At the INC, the ILP technique was implemented in 2007 for patients with STS and melanoma with in-transit metastasis who are not candidates to any treatment other than amputation, with the purpose to save the limb. “…En el INC, en 2007 se implementa la técnica de PAE para pacientes con STB y melanoma con metástasis en tránsito que no son candidatos a otro tratamiento diferente de la amputación, con el fin de salvar la extremidad. Entre los años 1998 y 2008, en esta institución se llevaron a cabo 80 amputaciones mayores por el Servicio de Seno y Tejidos Blandos en el INC, en pacientes con diagnóstico de STB y tumores de piel, correspondiendo al 72.5% de las amputaciones a pacientes con STB 17 . Luego, entre los años 2007 y 2008, 13 pacientes con diagnóstico de sarcomas y metástasis en tránsito de melanoma fueron llevados a PAE, con reportes de salvamento de la extremidad del 76%, resultados similares a lo reportado en la literatura médica, aunque en ese estudio se incluyeron pacientes con melanoma, en quienes el manejo sólo con melfalán es más efectivo 18,19 .…”
