An Adaptive Current Limiting Controller for a Wireless Power Transmission System Energized by a PV Generator

Abstract: The use of a wireless power transmission system (WPTS) in modern applications, such as consumer electronics, renewable energy sources (RESs) and electric vehicles (EVs), can significantly increase the safety and convenience of the power supply. However, low efficiency is a major hurdle to the use of a WPTS in these applications. In this article, an adaptive virtual impedance controller (AVIC) is presented to enhance the wireless power transfer (WPT) efficiency of a photovoltaic generator (PVG) to the load. In … Show more

“…The purpose of this case is to enhanse the system efficiency by using MPPT (P&O) controller. The Simulink model includes; PVG, Boost Converter, MPPT( P&O) controller, and Load as shown in Figure (2). The simulatiom resultes are explained in Figures (3 -10) and Table 10.The simulation results includes eight tests, the same as given in case #2.…”

“…As a result, designing reliable and highly efficient power converters is one of the most interesting topics in the field of renewable power generation. In principle, the MPPT controller derives the DC-DC converter, which serves as an interface between load and PV cell, by controlling its duty cycle to extract maximum power out of the PV cell based on environmental conditions [2]. The output of DC-DC converter can be used to operate DC load directly.…”

“…Examples of common control schemes in the Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) are presented in [1][2][3][4]. Furthermore, there are some studies that evaluate the MPPT control by applying current controllers as proportional integral (PI), hysteresis, predictive, and sliding-mode controllers [5] maintaining the stable operation of a grid-connected PV system as they can regulate the current to follow the reference current (PV system).…”
