An adaptive Software and Systems Architecture for Driver Assistance Systems based on service orientation

Abstract: Abstract-State of the art automotive software systems presume a static configuration of electronic control units and software components. Assuming that future Driver Assistance Systems (DAS) will deploy dynamically changing software configurations, the authors propose an approach towards an adaptive software and systems architecture for DAS. The paper focuses on systems, which assist the driver while backing up truck and trailer combinations. These systems are characterized by a high degree of distribution as … Show more

“…One of the main goals of F I G U R E 1 Embedded case study design according to Runeson [38] this architectural level is to describe the observable behaviour on a functional level based on feature and function interaction while keeping each component and subfunction as independent from its implementation as possible. In a recent work, service-oriented architectural concepts are used at this architectural level to decompose the functional hierarchy into services [40][41][42].…”

“…SOA for web service has the following: A standard for communication The same presentation pattern and data exchange The details of language which are describable A registration and searchable pattern on the web service system Therefore, SOA is an approach that has been used to design the architecture for the service. RESTful is a service which processes small functions such as data setting, data approved from clients, or other basic services [10], [11].…”

“…Applications of service-oriented software architectures for automotive applications have been an ongoing research subject. Such architectures have been partially implemented in various efforts [9,10,11], but to the best of our knowledge, none of them go to extend and implement the complete onboard vehicle software following a service-oriented approach.…”
