Abstract:Abstract. In this paper we introduce an algorithm for computing nonlinear continuous Chebyshev approximations. The algorithm is based on successive linearizations within adaptively adjusted neighborhoods. The convergence of the algorithm is proven under some general assumptions such that it is applicable for many Chebyshev approximation problems discussed in the literature. It, like the Remez exchange method, is purely continuous in the sense that it converges to a solution of a continuous Chebyshev approximat… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
