This paper explores the game sophistication of a party game is called Murder Mystery Game (MMG), which is very popular in teenagers, recently it was boom developed in China and Japan. For players, they have to promote game story process by performing the role which was assigned to them, finally, players need to find out who is the "murderer", reversely murderer player has to try his best strategy to escape from the story. In this paper, our research focuses on the playing settings, MMG needs several players and cost a few hours, the game would become boring as the number of players becomes too large or too small, therefore we use the game refinement theory to analyze MMG setting to make the game process become more balanced and sophisticated. Computer natural and convergent simulations for a simple version of MMG are conducted to collect the data while game refinement measure is employed for the assessment. The results indicate several interesting observations, which can help game designers to create a better murder scenario.

Gamification has been widely applied to various fields to boost the user experience and engagement. Most businesses now have implemented gamification elements into their business models to increase their customer retention. These elements, often called the Customer Loyalty Programs have helped businesses retain their customer base by ensuring that their customers get rewarded for their support to the business. This paper analyses the business model of Dota 2, a Free-to-Play game which sells various in-game items including the Compendium annually. The compendium allows the players to earn or buy levels and receive rewards based on their achievements in the compendium. The compendium applies various concepts of gamification into it. The compendium is then annually improved by adding new rewards, milestones and features. We can expect that the sales of the compendium will increase with the implementation and improvement of gamification, which in turn can help to sustain the Free-to-Play model of the game.

The development of games had been seen as an essential field of study in artificial intelligence. Although game concepts have been adopted in various problem domains, understanding the nature of game playing's underlying mechanism has been limited. This study investigates such a mechanism by adopting a logistic model of game outcome uncertainty where a measure of game refinement had been derived. Application of such a measure to the popular board and sports games have been conducted to determine its implication in determining sophisticated design and has defined the harmonic balance between skill and chance. A theoretical analysis using practical data confirms the effectiveness of the proposed model, where reasonable game length is determined based on the definition of a gamified experience. The model is further expanded with the analogy of physics in mind. The law of motions in the game is formalized by considering the derivatives of the game progress model, where the link between game refinement theory and flow theory is identified and discussed. In essence, the sophisticated game's underlying mechanism leads to a more natural yet pleasurable human experience.
