An Analysis of Rumor Spreading Model With Contra Productive Intervention

Abstract: Abstract:A mathematical model to explain the spread of rumors in a closed human population is proposed in this article. Interventions from the government to educate people about the danger of rumor along with apprehensions of fanatical people are implemented in the model. Intervention of imprisonment which will send fanatical people to prison was assumed to have a worsening effect, i.e increasing the ability of fanatical people to persuade other people to follow their ideology. Equilibrium points and their loc… Show more

“…Tan et al [21] proposed a novel rumor propagation model, inspired by a model of elastically collision balls, namely the elastic collisionbased rumor-propagation model (ECR Model), and investigated the dynamics of rumor propagation between network nodes, similar to the dynamics of collisions between elastic balls. Aldila et al [22] proposed a mathematical model to explain the spreading of rumors in a closed human population, implementing in the model the government interventions to educate people about the danger of rumor along with apprehensions of fanatical people. Based on the reaction-diffusion equations, Zhu et al [23] proposed a novel epidemic-like model with both discrete and nonlocal delays for investigating the spatial-temporal dynamics of rumor propagation.…”

“…The methodology to solve this set of equations has been used to explain the process of diffusion of epidemics [2,3,4,5], cancer research [6] as well as in rumor theory [7,8,9,10]. The solution of the system of equations (1) is a bit more laborious than in the cases already published and it is possible to derive four critical points for this system with their respective eigenvalues:…”
