An analysis of the use of augmented reality and virtual reality as educational resources

Abstract: In recent years, the utilization of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) has emerged as a transformative approach in education, revolutionizing traditional teaching methods. This study seeks to explore the efficacy of AR and VR as pedagogical resources for enhancing the teaching of the solar system. The research process involved the development of an application comprising two modules, AR and VR, which were evaluated to assess their impact on the teaching process. Furthermore, a comparative study wa… Show more

“…In addition, the main research areas that we found in mapping are Education and Educational Research , Computer Science , and Engineering (Figure a). It should be noted that these areas are also strongly linked to research in technological fields, including the applications of VR and augmented reality in education. , In this context, the creativity and ingenuity of chemistry educators have been challenged by the emergence of the pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2 to meet the needs and requirements of learners of chemistry. For example, student learning in laboratory settings , and the role of collaborative learning, including both problem-solving and laboratory activities …”

“…With interactive elements and a more exciting learning experience through AR, students are expected to be more motivated and excited to follow the learning process. AR technology brings innovations that can enrich students' learning experiences, even in educational environments that may be limited (de Moraes Rossetto et al, 2023).…”

“…Similarly, Chaiyarak et al (2021) identified the relevance of digital technologies, including for teaching astronomy. The importance of virtual reality and other digital opportunities for teaching astronomy has also been repeatedly emphasised (de Moraes Rossetto et al, 2023;Haleem et al, 2022), as well as national experience in distance learning (Gargano et al, 2018). However, some issues of improving astronomy teaching (given the continuous development of learning platforms) require some improvement and further development.…”

“…However, the implementation of these innovative approaches in the study of astronomy may face some difficulties for teachers (Cole et al, 2018;de Moraes Rossetto et al, 2023). Respondents emphasised that their effective use requires a high level of digital literacy (34%).…”
