Background: Monitoring finger/wrist range of motion (ROM) is an important component of routine hand therapy after surgery. Telerehabilitation is a field that may potentially address various barriers of in-person hand therapy appointments. Therefore, the purpose of this scoping review is to identify telerehabilitation technologies that can be feasibly used in a patient’s home to objectively measure finger/wrist ROM. Methods: Following PRISMA-ScR guidelines for scoping reviews, we systematically searched MEDLINE and Embase electronic databases using alternative word spellings for the following core concepts: “wrist/hand,” “rehabilitation,” and “telemedicine.” Studies were imported into Covidence, and systematic two-level screening was done by two independent reviewers. Patient demographics and telerehabilitation information were extracted from the selected articles, and a narrative synthesis of the findings was done. Results: There were 28 studies included in this review, of which the telerehabilitation strategies included smartphone angle measurement applications, smartphone photography, videoconference, and wearable or external sensors. Most studies measured wrist ROM with the most accurate technologies being wearable and external sensors. For finger ROM, the smartphone angle application and photography had higher accuracy than sensor systems. The telerehabilitation strategies that had the highest level of usability in a remote setting were smartphone photographs and estimation during virtual appointments. Conclusions: Telerehabilitation can be used as a reliable substitute to in-person goniometer measurements, particularly the smartphone photography and motion sensor ROM measurement technologies. Future research should investigate how to improve the accuracy of motion sensor applications that are available on easy-to-access devices.

Antrenmanlarda sportif performansı artırmak antrenörlerin ve sporcuların önde gelen hedefleridir. Bu hedefe ulaşılabilmesi için, sporcuların performans dalgalanmalarını düzenli olarak takip ve analiz etmek gereklidir. Geleneksel antrenman yöntemlerinde, sportif performansın ölçülmesi ve analizlerinin yapılmasında karmaşık ve pahalı ekipmanlar kullanılmaktadır. Fakat, son yıllarda dijital teknolojilerin gelişimini takiben, sportif performansın ölçülmesi ve analizinin yapılması amacıyla çeşitli mobil uygulamalar ve inovatif yöntemler geliştirilmiş ve araştırmalarda bu uygulamaların kullanımı yaygınlaşmaya başlamıştır. Öyle ki, atletik performansın ölçülmesi ve değerlendirilmesi bu geliştirilen mobil uygulamalar aracılığıyla daha etkili ve kişiselleştirilmiş hale gelmektedir. Bu uygulamalar, çeşitli kamera ve sensörler vasıtasıyla sporcuların hareketlerini ve performans verilerini kaydedip, bu verileri analiz ederek sporcuların performansları hakkında bilgi vermektedir. Bu araştırmada, atletik performansın değerlendirilmesi için kullanılan mobil uygulamalara yönelik güncel trendler incelenmiştir. Bu çerçevede güncel trend mobil uygulamalar olan"COD Timer", "iLoad", "Dartfish", "My Jump", "My Jump 2", "My Lift" ve "My Sprint" mobil uygulamaların güvenirlik ve geçerlikleri incelenmiştir. Bu uygulamalar, çeşitli branşlarından antrenör ve sporculara, performanslarını optimize etme ve kişisel hedeflerine ulaşma konusunda kolay ve kapsamlı veri sağlama potansiyeli sunmaktadır. Bu bağlamda bu araştırmanın amacı, mobil uygulamaların atletik performans değerlendirmesindeki önemli rolünü vurgulamak, spor dünyasında bu uygulamaların yaygın olarak nasıl kullanıldığına dair güncel trendleri ortaya koymak ve bu uygulamaların güvenirlik ve geçerliklerini analiz etmektir. Araştırmanın verileri literatürden derlenen bilimsel çalışmaların sonuçları ile elde edilmiştir. Sonuç olarak, araştırmaya dahil edilen mobil uygulamaların güvenirlik ve geçerlik açısından sağlam temellere dayandığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Gelecekteki araştırmalarda, bu uygulamaların daha büyük popülasyonlar üzerindeki etkilerinin daha detaylı bir şekilde değerlendirilmesi ve yeni teknolojik gelişmelerin entegrasyonuyla ilgili çalışmaların yapılması önerilmektedir.

A systematic search was performed of online databases for any anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries within the NBA. Video was obtained of injuries occurring during competition and downloaded for 2-dimensional video analysis. Thirty-five in-game videos were obtained for analysis. Of the reviewed cases, 19% were noncontact ACL injuries where there was no player-to-player contact from an opposing player. Three injury mechanism categories were found based on the events at the point of initial ground contact of the foot of the injured limb: single-leg casting (mean dorsiflexion angle 18.9° (14.4°); mean knee flexion angle 15.6° (7.8°); and mean trunk lateral flexion 18.2° (8.4°)); bilateral hop (mean dorsiflexion angle 18.2° (15.2°), mean knee flexion angle 21° (14.5°), mean trunk extension angle 6.9° (11.4°), and landing angle from the athlete’s center of mass 47.9° (10.1°)); and single-leg landing after contact (mean abduction angle of the swing leg 105.4° (18.1°), mean knee flexion angle of the injured limb 34.2° (8.0°), and mean trunk ipsilateral flexion angle 22.2° (7.0°)).
