ResumoEste artigo objetiva analisar as visões da unidimensionalidade e da multidimensionalidade da pobreza a fi m de incorporar dimensões psicossociais que contribuam para análise da complexidade desse fenôme-no. A pobreza, geralmente, está baseada na tendência unidimensional monetária de conceituação e mensuração, restringindo a análise a linhas de pobreza. Há, então, o paradigma multidimensional da Abordagem das Capacitações que amplia a concepção de pobreza. É incorporada a centralidade da autonomia e da liberdade do indivíduo no exercício de suas capacitações e seus funcionamentos como elementos de defi nição da pobreza. No entanto, em sua perspectiva prática, a Abordagem das Capacitações situa-se geralmente na identifi cação de questões concretas de saúde, habitação e padrão de vida relacionada à pobreza. Assim, identifi ca-se a necessidade de incorporação de dimensões psicossociais que contribuam para expansão do crítico entendimento desse fenômeno e abarquem aspectos subjetivos, negativos e positivos no tocante às estratégias de enfrentamento desenvolvidas pelos pobres. Nesse sentido, são propostas as análises do bem estar pessoal, do senso de comunidade, das práticas discriminatórias e do fatalismo das pessoas em situação de pobreza. Portanto, analisa-se a necessidade e o compromisso da ciência psicológica na elaboração de conhecimentos para a ampliação de entendimento desse fenômeno.Palavras-chave: Pobreza, Psicologia, psicossocial. Purpose -The aim of this paper is to introduce the special issue of the International Journal of Manpower on capabilities, work and human resource policies and practices. After presenting the main concepts of the capability approach, inspired by Amartya Sen's work, the paper goes on to review the major findings of the contributions to this issue. Design/methodology/approach -Bringing together economists and sociologists, the special issue develops a relevant range of qualitative and quantitative research methods. Findings -The special issue adopts the capability approach as a yardstick to assess corporate policies from the combined perspective of economic and human development. It asks how firms can contribute to developing sustainable human capabilities at work. Originality/value -Human resource management is mainly oriented towards optimising workers' labour for the benefit of employers and shareholders. The papers in this issue provide some well-documented suggestions on how to break with a reductionist understanding of employees as "human capital", considered from the sole viewpoint of economic efficiency, by introducing a shift in perspective towards an integrated approach, embracing both economic and human development.

In this paper we propose a conceptual framework of youth's responsible sexuality through Sen's Capability approach. Its objects are to define the concept of youth's responsible sexuality, to describe in which analytical framework we use the Capability Approach to conceptualize the youth's responsible sexuality. Precedent works were used to do so and we propose a 3 by 5 table as frame. Horizontaly, we have the social structure: individual level, household level and environmental level. Verticaly we do have resources level, conversion factors level, capabilities level, preferential choices level and accomplisment level.
