The scientific heritage of the Romanian arachnologist Alexandru Roşca (publications, spider collection, and described species) was surveyed. For almost 40 years Alexandru Roşca studied the spiders from territories that are now parts of Romania, Ukraine, Bulgaria, and Moldova. Despite political repression, Roşca made a significant contribution to the study of the spiders of Romania and bordering countries, reflected in his 19 papers including the Ph.D. thesis. A complete list of Roşca's papers is presented. The 'Alexandru Roşca' spider collection is deposited in the Grigore Antipa National Museum of Natural History (Bucharest, Romania). According to the register it includes 596 species (1526 specimens) of spiders. Part of the collection was revised by different scientists and later by the present authors. During the period 1931-1939, Roşca described 13 spider species. To date, five species names have been synonymised. We propose that six species should be treated as nomina dubia because of their poor descriptions and lack of availability of types and/or other specimens. For two of Roşca's species, Pardosa roscai (Roewer, 1951) and Tetragnatha reimoseri (Roşca, 1939), data and figures are presented and information on them is updated.

Seven rare spider species collected in the Kyiv Region are listed. Eresus moravicus Řezáč, 2008, Parasyrisca arrbonica Szinetár & Eichardt, 2009, and Enoplognatha bryjai Řezáč, 2016 are recorded for the first time from the East European Plain. P. arrbonica and E. bryjai are new to the spider fauna of Ukraine; Atypus muralis Bertkau, 1890, A. piceus (Sulzer, 1776), and Mustelicosa dimidiata (Thorell, 1875) are new the Kyiv Region. Comments on the geografical distribution and illustrations of four species are provided.

An annotated list of 31 spider species of 12 families collected in Northeasten, Easten and Southern Ukraine is presented. Four speceis, Marinarozelotes manychensis (Ponomarev & Tsvetkov, 2006), Turkоzelotes kazachstanicus (Ponomarev et Tsvetkov, 2006), Zelotes atrocaeruleus (Simon, 1878), and Z. puritanus Chamberlin, 1922, are recorded for the first time from Ukraine. For Micaria coarctata (Lucas, 1846), this is the first record from the East European Plain. Nine species were recorded for the first time from Left-Bank Ukraine. To date, 1081 spider species are known from Ukraine and 757 species from Left-Bank Ukraine. Bsed on recent data, the northern boundaries of the geographic ranges of Drassyllus crimeaensis Kovblyuk, 2003 and Bassanioides caperatus (Simon, 1875) run along the northern coast of the Sea of Azov. For Marinarozelotes manychensis and Turkоzelotes kazachstanicus the northwestern coast of the Sea of Azov is the westernmost known limits of their distiribution. The range of Heriaeus horridus Tyschchenko, 1965 is delimited in the west by the right bank of the Dnieper estuary. Thirteen species are illlustrted.
