An Approach to Solid-State Electrical Double Layer Capacitors Fabricated with Graphene Oxide-Doped, Ionic Liquid-Based Solid Copolymer Electrolytes

Abstract: Solid polymer electrolyte (SPE) composed of semi-crystalline poly (vinylidene fluoride-hexafluoropropylene) [P(VdF-HFP)] copolymer, 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium bis (trifluoromethyl sulphonyl) imide [EMI-BTI] and graphene oxide (GO) was prepared and its performance evaluated. The effects of GO nano-filler were investigated in terms of enhancement in ionic conductivity along with the electrochemical properties of its electrical double layer capacitors (EDLC). The GO-doped SPE shows improvement in ionic conductiv… Show more

“…It can be said that the PVCH3 electrolyte film admirably has electrochemical stability because of the almost nearly rectangular mirror images of the shape of the voltammograms, especially at a high sweep rate. Meanwhile, the CV curve shows an ideal capacitor since the plot possesses no visible peaks in the polarization curve, which means no redox reaction occurred with the voltage of 0.9 V [ 72 , 73 , 74 ]. The specific capacitance C s value of fabricated EDLC achieved in this work was found to be higher than some previously reported works.…”

“…13(b), the CV curve exhibits reversible humps at all scan rates, revealing the redox reaction and conrming the capacitive behavior. 56 Also, with increasing scan rate, the oxidation and reduction peak currents increase signicantly. 57 The observed results suggest that the polymer electrolytes are electrochemically active and an active electrolyte for lithium ion battery applications.…”

“…The redox peak indicates deintercalation/intercalation or Faradaic processes that are entirely dissimilar to the mechanism of energy storage in the EDLC. The EDLC will accumulate energy within adsorption and desorption or non-Faradaic processes [ 52 , 53 , 54 ]. The pattern of the CV has a leaf-like shape at 100 mV/s.…”
