An Arbitrary Conformal Array Pattern Synthesis Method That Include Mutual Coupling and Platform Effects

Abstract: Abstract-The research in the paper puts forward a novel method for synthesizing conformal arrays and optimizing low cross-polarizations including the effects of elements mutual coupling and mounted platform. Starting from the far-field superposition principle, an efficient approach with active element pattern technique is proposed to calculate the far-field patterns. A coordinate transform is used to create polarization quantities, and a general process for the element polarized pattern transformation is propo… Show more

“…Antenna having single element generally having relatively low directivity and broad radiation pattern. Some application required high directivity antenna since high directivity can achieved by increasing the size of antenna or increasing the number of element in antenna [14][15][16][17][18][19][20]. Conformal shape can be slightly curved, singly curved, doubly curved and cylindrical array.…”

“…The compensation of such an undesired effect has been a popular research topic throughout the years. Various approaches for scalar antenna arrays' mutual-coupling calibration have been developed, and they can easily be found in the open literature [18][19][20][21][22][23][24][25]. Wong & Yuan used spatially noncollocating six-component EMVS to decreases the mutual coupling across the six collocated antennas [17].…”

“…Some studies are focused on the impedance computation by various modeling methods. The computed mutual impedance can be used to reduce the radar cross section (RCS) or synthesize the optimal radiation pattern of the conformal array [7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14]. Also, it is useful for an interaction between the dipole particles, for example, analyzing the array impedance [15][16][17][18][19][20][21][22].…”
