Abstract: Fungi and laccase mediator systems (LMSs) have a proven track record of oxidizing recalcitrant organic compounds. There has been considerable interest in applying LMSs to the treatment of perfluoroalkyl acids (PFAAs), a class of ubiquitous and persistent environmental contaminants.
