“…This study found a significant increase in individuals' knowledge in CAN after completing the training modules. Previous studies have shown similar results where an increase in knowledge in child abuse and neglect was observed in healthcare providers after completing training or accessing material about CAN . “…Whilst the response rate observed in this study was apparently low, the obtained sample size exceeded the number required to detect a medium effect size and in that sense was deemed fit for purpose. Moreover, previous similar studies have used smaller sample sizes However, this sample does not necessarily represent the general population of dental practitioners living in Saudi Arabia, due to a noticeably high percentage of dental practitioners working in Universities in this sample. As an example of a group whose importance could easily be overlooked, the mapping review highlighted the important role of dentists and dental services in a range of different aspects of safeguarding 22,23,107,154 .…”

“…Health services are required to ensure that all staff working with children attend regular child protection training. However, various authors report an inadequate level of training and knowledge regarding child protection across different health disciplines (Ayonrinde and Payne, 2006;Bannon et al, 2001;Baverstock et al, 2008;Soldani et al, 2008). Individual agencies, but particularly health service managers, will need to audit staff knowledge of the law on emergency powers.…”
