An educational tool for fuzzy logic controller and classical controllers

Abstract: In this study, an educational tool has been presented to teach fuzzy logic controller (FLC) and classical controllers to undergraduate and graduate level students, so that students could establish a thorough understanding and be able to compare FLC with classical controllers. The tool has flexible structure and user-friendly graphical interface. Direct current (DC) motor speed control has been presented to help students learn and compare the FLC and classical controllers. Students practice on both controller, … Show more

“…A lot of people have come up with various techniques and methodologies to introduce and teach fuzzy logic and structural dynamics to beginners in this field. Ackayol et al [11] in his article discuss about a new educational tool which helps in teaching fuzzy logic to undergraduate and graduate students. Mosqueda et al [12] developed an all inclusive web resource that links the study of earthquakes and engineering design to middle grade science and mathematics students.…”

“…Based on this, Deschênes and Pomerleau [11] developed a simulator for process control education with a case study of a mixing process. Also Akcayol et al [12] presented a tool to teach fuzzy logic controller and compare to classical ones to undergraduate and graduate level students.…”

“…Akcayol et al [9] describe the development of an educational tool for fuzzy logic controllers and classical controllers, aimed for undergraduate and graduate level students. The tool was designed with the aim that students could establish a thorough understanding and be able to compare the fuzzy logic controllers with classical controllers.…”
