An Effective Couple Method for Reliability-Based Multi-Objective Optimization of Truss Structures with Static and Dynamic Constraints

Abstract: This paper proposes an effective couple method for solving reliability-based multi-objective optimization problems of truss structures with static and dynamic constraints. The proposed coupling method integrates a single-loop deterministic method (SLDM) into the nondominated sorting genetic algorithm II (NSGA-II) algorithm to give the so-called SLDM-NSGA-II. Thanks to the advantage of SLDM, the probabilistic constraints are treated as approximating deterministic constraints. And therefore the reliability-based… Show more

“…An acceptable contrast between the efficiency of deterministic and reliability optimization is given in [ 4 ] and an exhaustive review of the concepts of RBDO is available [ 5 ] or in [ 6 ]. RBDO is well researched, especially for steel truss structures e.g., [ 7 , 8 ], and frames e.g., [ 9 , 10 ], where the computation effort of each optimization loop is acceptable. They are not so common in more complex problems involving the plate, shell, or composite structures, where the computation is much more demanding and the amount of strength and serviceability checks much higher; such construction is considered in this study.…”

“…Integrating FORM into the multi-objective genetic algorithm (MOGA), Lim et al [34] conducted the MORBDO of an engine mounting system. Vo-Duy et al [35] developed a MORBDO framework using NSGA-II and a single-loop deterministic method (SLDM) for truss structures. Jiang et al [36] proposed a MORBDO approach of a control arm using NSGA-II and MCS method.…”
