Abstract:Background The 'Colt' is a triploid hybrid of P. avium and P. pseudocerasusL. grown as a cherry rootstock because of its resistance to cherry stem pitting (a debilitating virus disease), Phytophthora root rot, bacterial canker, and gopher damage.
