An electrochemical sensing method for the determination of levodopa using a poly(4-methyl-ortho-phenylenediamine)/MWNT modified GC electrode

Abstract: DPVs of 0.08 mmol L−1l-Dopa and 1.2 mmol L−1 AA in PBS pH 7 at (A) before and (B) after modification of a GCE with poly (4-MoPD)/MWNTs in PBS pH 7, scan rate: 100 mV s−1.

“…The oxidation peak occurs at the potential 512 mV (scan rate 100 mVs −1 ) and corresponds to the oxidation of levodopa to dopaquinone. The reduction peak which occurs at the potential 488 mV (scan rate 100 mVs −1 ) corresponds to the reverse reaction (reduction of dopaquinone to levodopa) [ 12 , 17 ]. The influence of scan rate on LSV voltammograms is also visible in Figure 4 —the higher the value of scan rate was, the higher levodopa peak current was.…”

“…The use of fluorescence spectrometry [ 7 ] and spectrophotometry [ 8 ] was also reported. Voltammetry which belongs to the group of electrochemical methods is also a useful tool for Levodopa determination [ 9 , 10 , 11 , 12 , 13 , 14 , 15 , 16 , 17 ]. In comparison to the mentioned methods, voltammetry has many advantages.…”

“…The linear equation could be expressed as Epa =−0.052 pH +0.6904 ( R 2 =0.95). This slope closed to the expected value of −0.059, indicating that an equal number of protons (2 H + ) accompanied the electron transfer (2 e − ) .…”

“…Differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) with high sensitivity and resolution was employed to efficiently analyze the L-dopa at low concentration (potential range: 0.0 to +0.5 V, amplitude: 50 mV, pH 6.0). 27,29 The anodic peak currents are linearly enhanced with the increasing concentration of L-dopa from 1.0 × 10 -6 to 1.2 × 10 -3 M (Fig. 6A).…”
