An Estimate of Centre-of-Mass Effects in Quark Potential Models

Abstract: The correction to the mass for the spurious centre-of-mass motion in a three-quark system is calculated exactly in the nonrelativistic constituent quark model for the Cornell potential. The result is somewhat higher than MIT bag model estimates but similar to that of a soliton bag model and a relativistic oscillator model.
