An examination of the reinforcement learning methodology of machine learning to establish a schedule considering major KPIs such as delivery date in a high-tech manufacturing line

Abstract

It is becoming very important for manufacturers to secure adaptive manufacturing production planning capabilities, which are the ability to respond and re-establish production plan schedules in real time by adapting to the rapidly changing order change environment. In addition, manufacturers are required to have the ability to derive a production plan or schedule that maximizes process efficiency while adapting to environmental changes and achieving the maximum delivery compliance rate for customer orders. The ability to derive optimal production/scheduling plans while considering various KPIs is a very important issue. This paper determined that efficient production plans and schedules can be efficiently established using reinforcement learning methods in this manufacturing environment, and will introduce related existing research and the concept of reinforcement learning.
