An experimental study of binary lateral jets on a standard model in subsonic, transonic, and supersonic cross-flows

Abstract: There are numerous aerodynamic and nonaerodynamic methods to control flying devices, one of which is lateral jets, i.e. a high-speed method with convenient operation at low speeds or high altitudes. In this research, a new arrangement of lateral jets is examined by testing in a wind tunnel. The test is conducted on the Basic Finner model. In this design, the jets at the top and bottom of the model are arranged in pairs and parallel to each other. This combination, in addition to controlling pitch channel, prov… Show more

“…17 Subsonic jets are usually used to predict the flow of low-pressure liquid or air, including mass conservation, conservation of momentum, conservation of energy, and concentration equations. [18][19][20] At present, some scholars carry out theoretical research on gas jets based on the integral model of low-pressure leakage. For example, Schefer calculated subsonic hydrogen jets by integral model.…”

“…The traditional pneumatic rudder as a single actuator is not competent. 1,2 Jet control technique is an important means of air vehicle flight control. It has the advantages of simple structure, no influence on aerodynamic shape, short response time and no influence from external flow.…”
