An improved model for chirped slanted SAW devices

Abstract: Three major improvements for modeling chirped Slanted Array Compressor (SAC) transducer devices will be presented. First, the generalized impulse response model for an in-line chirped IDT is applied to individual longitudinal segments of a SAC transducer to obtain transversely distributed source profiles. The inherent simplicity of the coupling-of-modes formalism conveniently encompasses effects of both the chirped transduction and the transducer internal reflections. Second, these source profiles are driving … Show more

“…The entrance surface may well be unpolished and this feature can, in fact, be used to an advantage. 1 The scattering of light at the front surface increases the radiation cone within the crystal, and thus one sees a larger interferogram on the screen.…”

“…Figure 2 shows the results of the measurement. The curve obtained is a coherent superposition of the responses of different electrode pairs corresponding to different frequencies [ 23 ]. With the increasing frequency, the resistance increases and reaches a value of 8 Ohms at 215 MHz.…”

“…The research effort culminated in the successful development of an EWC SPUDT channelizer for the electronic warfare receiver application [57]. Clinton consulted TI to support development of compressive receivers and pulse compression radars using slanted IDTs [46][47][48]. He also consulted ASCOM Microsystems (later Advanced SAW Products, or ASP, and then Micronas) for development of radio frequency (RF) SAW devices for communications [54][55][58][59][60][61][62][63][64][65][66][67][68][69][70][71][72][73].…”
