“…Some studies indicated that Ascarididae was more closely related to the Toxocaridae than to Anisakidae by molecular criteria (Nadler and Hudspeth, 1998;Nadler et al, 2007;Li et al, 2008b;Xie et al, 2011a), but were rejected by analyses using small subunit (SSU) and mt genome sequences (Blaxter et al, 1998;Meldal et al, 2007;Park et al, 2011;Sultana et al, 2013). The results of the present study supports that the Ascarididae was more closely related to the family Toxocaridae than to other families within the Ascaridomorpha, consistent with findings of a recent study (Liu et al, 2013b).…”

“…These molecular phylogenetic results corroborate prior hypotheses based on comparative morphology (Railliet, 1915;Anderson and Bain, 1982;Karmanova, 1986;Anderson, 2000). Species of Trichinella (superfamily Trichinelloidea) included in this study were monophyletic (MPB ¼ 100, MLB ¼ 100, PP ¼ 100) and sister to Dioctophymatoidea, which is congruent with the topology recovered for both clades in the Nematoda phylogeny (Meldal et al, 2007). A comprehensive assessment of diversification that includes broader taxon sampling for all extant species of the Dioctophymatoidea and additional independent genes should be completed.…”

“…In this phylogenetic study, we use DNA sequences of 5 dioctophymatoids and 3 Trichocephaloidea and include the outgroup Xiphinema americanum as identified in broader analyses (e.g., Blaxter et al, 1998;Rusin et al, 2003;Meldal et al, 2007). We test whether the Soboliphymatidae (Soboliphyme spp.)…”

“…An improved molecular phylogeny with emphasis on marine taxa (Holterman et al 2006) placed Selachinematidae outside of Chromadorida, but could not determine the exact position of the former. In that study, as in Meldal et al (2007), the Desmodorida did not result as a monophyletic group, since the superfamily Microlaimoidea did not cluster with Desmodoroidea, but was placed at the base of the class Chromadorea. In a recent revision of the genus Richtersia, Pastor de Ward and Lo Russo (2007) assumed that Latronema and Richtersia are two intermediate genera, from which the Desmodoroidea lineage has evolved.…”
