Abstract:A novel protocol for the synthesis of 1,5-disubstituted tetrazoles from secondary amides has been developed using TiCl4 as a catalyst for first time. In the present protocol, the use of TiCl4 enhances the reactivity of sodium azide towards secondary amides. This methodology may be used efficiently for the synthesis of variety of 1,5-disubstituted tetrazoles.
