An Improved Power System Transient Stability Prediction Model Based on mRMR Feature Selection and WTA Ensemble Learning

Abstract: Fast online transient stability assessment (TSA) is very important to maintain the stable operation of power systems. However, the existing transient stability assessment methods suffer the drawbacks of unsatisfactory prediction accuracy, difficult applicability, or a heavy computational burden. In light of this, an improved high accuracy power system transient stability prediction model is proposed, based on min-redundancy and max-relevance (mRMR) feature selection and winner take all (WTA) ensemble learning.… Show more

“…The development of grid interconnection and intelligence makes today's power grids increasingly complex and open; while the scale of power grids continues to expand, uncertain risk factors are also increasing [1][2][3][4][5]. This puts forward higher requirements for the safety and stability analysis of the power grid.…”

“…The emission form is complicated and cannot be effectively utilized on a large scale, which not only wastes a lot of energy but also pollutes the environment, but also does not conform to the current social development requirements of low carbon and environmental protection, energy saving, and consumption reduction, and needs to be changed urgently. At present, people's research on intelligent materials has been more in-depth, with piezoelectric [1][2][3][4], electrostatic [5,6], electromagnetic [7][8][9], shape memory alloy [10,11], and other intelligent materials based on the absorption of waste heat, and power generation research is widely carried out, forming a variety of secondary energy reuse technology and methods, showing a great situation of vigorous development.…”

“…Making the literature review on the FSP-based TSA studies shows this fact that the FSS applied by scholars on transient space including two approaches: 1) information theory/filter-based approach; for example, in Reference [4], the extended Relief-based feature selection algorithm called ReliefF finds the most sensitive features via relevance index for monitoring rotor fault on induction motors. Also, the minimum-redundancy and maximum-relevance (mRMR) applied on features related to power and angle for large-scale power systems TSA have been considered in [5,6]. In Reference [7], the fast correlation-based filter method (FCBF) to eliminate irrelevant features is applied for the total transfer capability calculation considering static security, static voltage stability, and transient stability.…”
