An Integrated Environment for Learning Design

Abstract: Learning design tools aim at supporting practitioners in their task of creating more innovative and effective computer-supported learning situations. Despite there being a myriad of proposed tools, their use presents challenges that recent studies link with practitioners' varied pedagogical approaches and context restrictions, as well as with barriers to practical application derived from the fact that most tools only cover limited functionality and do not support cooperation between practitioners. In this pap… Show more

“…TILE has been integrated into the ILDE (Integrated Learning Design Environment) community platform (Hernández‐Leo et al, ) and teachers can share their documented inquiries together with their learning designs and collected data (Figure ). Teachers can explore learning design artifacts generated by others related to the above four inquiry steps.…”

“…In fact, despite considerable research and development effort, the adoption of LD methods and tools seems to remain limited (Asensio-Pérez, Dimitriadis, Prieto, Hernández-Leo, & Mor, 2014;Hernández-Leo, et al, 2018). This issue has been explored by several researchers, frequently in relation to specific cases (eg, the specifications of IMS-LD, Neumann et al, 2010).…”

“…Certainly, as Conole () highlights, a crucial point is finding what mediating artefacts (tools and symbolic artefacts, proposed from the point of view of Vygotsky’s theoretical framework, and ) are used already by practitioners and what new artefacts can be created to support and guide the design process. “…The Integrated Learning Design Environment (ILDE) was the design platform. ILDE allows communities of educational designers to co-create and share learning designs both from scratch or using the templates provided (Hernández-Leo, Asensio-Pérez, Derntl, Pozzi, Chacón-Pérez, Prieto, & Persico, 2018).…”
