The purpose of this study was to describe prenatal nursing intervention studies on pregnant women and their families published in Korean nursing journals to identify research trends and to analyze the characteristics of intervention studies. This scoping review was conducted using Arksey and O'Malley's framework. We identified a research question and searched six domestic electronic databases for relevant articles. Forty-five references that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were finally selected. We extracted the data using an analytic framework, and then collated and summarized the characteristics of the intervention studies. The most frequently used research designs were non-randomized controlled trials (91.1%), and only a few studies applied a specific theoretical framework (24.4%). The participants were mainly pregnant women only (64.4%) during the third trimester (35.6%) of pregnancy. Prenatal education was the most common type of intervention (48.9%), followed by complementary therapy (37.8%) and psychosocial support programs (13.3%). The most commonly used outcome variables were drawn from the psychological domain (44.5%), although distinct types of outcome variables-especially from the psychological and physical domainswere used to measure the effectiveness of different types of prenatal interventions. This review suggests that further prenatal nursing intervention studies in Korea should expand the study participants to include pregnant women's family members, high-risk and vulnerable groups, and women throughout entire pregnancy. Furthermore, it is necessary to develop integrative prenatal nursing interventions that promote family support and participation by facilitating partnerships among women, families, and nurses before, during, and after pregnancy.

Activities related to increasing the caregiver's ability to care for the elderly who experience daily problems related to psychological approaches and the like have never been carried out. Caregiver communication does not support effective communication and is still social communication. Supported by the results of research conducted at the Nursing Home for the Elderly, it showed that there was a difference between pre and post-test in the group that received guidance or counseling treatment on the happiness of the elderly with a significant value. The purpose of this training is to empower elderly caregivers at Nursing Home at St. Yosef, Surabaya, and identify the effectiveness of the guidance model (Guidance) by caregivers. The number of participants is 50 people. The method used is cadre training through discussions, demonstrations, competence training and competence assessment. The result of training for caregivers is an increase in knowledge based on pre-test and post-test scores. There was an increase in skills seen in four skills, namely communication in the elderly, active movement, passive movement, mobilization, and daily activity training. The advantage of this cadre training is that it can effectively improve communication with the elderly people who are cared for in the orphanage. The implication of this activity is to increase the knowledge and skills of caregivers in providing care for the elderly through effective communication with the elderly in nursing homes as an effort to improve the health of the elderly.

An Integrative Review of Health-related Quality of Life in Patients with Advanced Heart Failure

Purpose: Even though advanced heart failure (HF) severely affects the patient' s health-related quality of life (HRQoL), there is little information regarding this issue. This review is aimed to describe the relevant clinical characteristics of patient with advanced HF and identify factors influencing HRQoL in these patients. Methods: Empirical articles were searched from electronic databases issued from January 2000 to June 2018 with using the key terms 'heart failure' and 'quality of life'. There were a total of 22 articles that met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed for this study. Results: First, nine studies among 22 studies clearly stated that their participants were samples of patients with advanced HF. Most reviewed studies showed the New York Heart Association (NYHA) class as the criteria for identifying advanced HF. Second, the level of HRQoL varied depending on the measurement tools utilized by the researchers. Third, the NYHA class, gender, and symptoms were mainly associated with HRQoL in patients with advanced HF. Also, nurse-or physician-led intervention, exercise, spiritual-focused intervention, and palliative care improved the HRQoL of the patients with advanced HF. Conclusion: This study found that the clear application of criteria for advanced HF and the development of advanced HFspecific HRQoL measurement was needed. Prospective studies should be considered for identifying differences in the levels and factors influencing HRQoL in patients with early stage or advanced HF to design patient-centered care.
