An internal metal‐plate antenna for a folder‐type mobile phone

Abstract: A compact shorted metal‐plate antenna suitable to be concealed within the casing of a folder‐type mobile phone as an internal antenna is presented. A design example of the proposed antenna for operating in the UMTS band (1920–2170 MHz) is demonstrated. Details of the experimental results of the constructed prototypes are presented and discussed. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
