An introduction to situation aware networks

Abstract: -This paper looks at the application of Situation Awareness (SA) in third generation cellular networks. To succcssfully implement this concept, a number of new technologies must be incorporated into the basestations. This paper considers how adaptive coverage might be realised in practice. In particular, the use of an overlaid sector (or beam) is discussed in detail.
