Background: This research aims to isolate and identify bacterial and fungal spoilage organisms in branded and unbranded milk, as well as to assess the parameters linked to milk safety risk. A total of 30 samples were collected for laboratory testing. For analysis, the samples were inoculated on several mediums. The bacterial and fungal isolates were identified using Gram staining and biochemical identification methods. Results: According to the findings, Klebsiella spp. and Escherichia coli are the most common bacteria found in isolated organisms from branded and unbranded milk (22.6%). Meanwhile, 8.8% of both Enterococcus faecalis and Streptococcus faecalis were found in the samples. 3.7% of Serratia marcescens and some Streptococcus species were all identified in the samples. At the milk outlets, regularly opening containers to sell milk and predisposing the milk to hand contamination increased the risk of contamination by environmental contaminants. Survey was done with 60 respondents, 37 (61.67%) said they were aware of the health risks associated with milk. Twenty-three people (38.33%) said they knew about diseases linked to drinking contaminated milk. It also discovered that there was no formal food hygiene training for any of the food handlers. However, 11.7% of the workers had advanced training in a variety of fields. Conclusions: The microorganisms associated with milk products’ spoilage in this study are of economical and public health significance. Some strains of A. flavus have been reported to produce potent mycotoxins called ochratoxin that can be harmful to human beings and animals. Cares should be taken on the handling of milk and milk products. And the improved preservation methods should be suggested to enhance the quality of milk products. The findings of the study provide a foundation fordeveloping better milk policies.

The main objective of the experiment is aimed to examine the impact of paraquat dichloride on the body weights of adult male Wistar rats as well as in their haematological tissues. The total number of male Wistar rats was 48 and was divided into 4 groups of 12 each. The 1 st group (Test 1) served as control. The other three groups served as experimental groups in which the paraquat dichloride was administered. The experimental groups which are 2 nd group (Test 2), 3 rd group (Test 3) and 4 th group (Test 4) received doses of paraquat dichloride of 10 mg/kg b.wt/per oral/day, 20 mg/kg b.wt/per oral/day and 40 mg/kg b.wt/per oral/ day respectively. The experiment was carried out for a time duration of 42 days. The mean values of body weights, erythrocyte indices, total erythrocyte count (TEC), total leucocyte count (TLC) and Hb concentrations were significantly (P<0.05) decreased in Test 2, 3 and 4 rats, excluding packed cell volume (PCV), which in comparison to the control groups. Outcomes and observations from hematological parameters and bone marrow revealed the toxicity of paraquat dichloride to hematological tissues resulting in anemia and bone marrow hypoplasia which eventually leads to failure of the bone marrow and extensively hematopoietic system of adult male Wistar rats following long term exposure and high concentration.

Moringa oleifera is an important medicinal plant in several countries, e.g. Nigeria, USA, Turkey, Germany, Greece, and Ukraine. The abundant bioactive and nutritional properties of this plant make it useful in many and diverse areas of life including the health, cosmetic, agricultural and food industries to mention but a few. Research has found out that the presence of proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, vitamins, minerals, flavonoids, phenols, alkaloids, fatty acids, saponins, essential oils, folate, aromatic hydrocarbons, sterols, glucosinolates, glycosides among others characterise the Moringa‐ nutrient profile and as a result, give rise to its remedial effects on ailments such like wounds, stomach and duodenal ulcers, allergies, obesity, diabetics, inflammation, asthma, etcetera. It is the aim of this review to provide an insight into such medicinal and pharmacological remedies attributed to Moringa stating both the past and recent discoveries. This review article also takes a look into the botanical features, bioactive compounds, antinutrients, food applications, bacterial fermentation products, biosafety, industrial applications and other uses of Moringa. Finally, with belief that knowledge is progressive, we acknowledge that there are things yet undiscovered about this wonder plant that will be of value both to medicine and general life, we therefore recommend that research work continue on the plant Moringa.This article is protected by copyright.
