Abstract:We report herein the synthesis of a stable plumbylone (3) by reduction of a bromodigermylplumbylene (2) with 2.2 equiv of potassium graphite (KC8). The molecular structure of 3 was established by a single‐crystal X ‐ray diffraction study and features a two‐coordinated Pb center with an acute Ge−Pb−Ge bond angle. Computational studies showed that this complex (3) possesses a singlet electronic ground state with a Pb0 center. Its high thermal stability can be most likely ascribed to the delocalization of π electr… Show more
Developments in synthetic methods for and reactivity of heavier tetrylene and tetrylyne complexes of the d-block elements are summarised, with a view towards cooperative bond activation and utilisation in catalysis.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
